Email FTP Service
The BCCS secure file transfer site provides a method allowing anyone with a BCCS Enterprise Active Directory and Exchange email account to upload large or confidential files for secure retrieval by another individual. This utility allows the sender and receiver to transmit large files that would otherwise be limited by email security and size restrictions.
- File transfers are limited by size (up to 200Mb) and the number of recipients (four).
- Use of this utility is required if your email attachments are greater than or equal to 20Mb in size.
- Ability to send and receive files in a secure manner ensuring the identity of the person sending, accessing or retrieving the file.
Mainframe File Transfer Utility
This utility is used by numerous Illinois State agencies and universities and is transparent to those customers who utilize the Mainframe system.
- Automation
- No user intervention needed
- Scheduling utility controls timing of transfer processes
- Flexibility
- New file types can be activated through definition to a file transfer protocol (FTP) control file
- New remote locations can be activated by including its information in an FTP control file and in the primary process for an incremental step
- Notification
- Files are downloaded only if user notifies BCCS of availability
- A turnaround notice can be returned to the user pertaining to the success of a file transmission
- Accountability
- Ensures the validity of the notification and the related file
- Receiving user must have knowledge of the file type
- File type is required to conform to control file's characteristics
- Security
- Passwords and IDs are retained in encrypted format within the system
- Periodically passwords change by means of automation
- RACF authorization is also used to limit and permit access to FTP'd data
- Mainframe utilities include FTP, FTPVPN, FTPSSL and XCOM

- Service Desk support and assistance
- Secure connections (SSL) requiring authentication and authorization, protecting the transfer of sensitive information to the intended recipient
- The service is continuous but may be subject to occasional disruption due to planned outages or unforeseen events (please contact the Customer Service Center to report outages)
- Active assistance, partnership, and consulting blending business file transfer needs with technological capabilities

How Can You Help? |
- Ensure that transfers are business related
- Follow-up to verify that the recipient has accessed and downloaded the file, deleting the file after the download is complete
- Follow your Agency data protection policies and do not transfer files prohibited from sharing absent proper Agency authorizations
- Do not share copyrighted or protected information without requisite approvals
- Retrieve files promptly when notified. (After 3 days, Email files may be cleaned)
- Converting a file(s) to .PDF or a compressed (ZIP) format can reduce the file size by up to 70%
- Please utilize a minimum of 128 bit encryption if transfer is coming from a PC platform to the Mainframe environment
